Hats and pies and a fairy

Hats and pies, yep that was the last day or so.
Yesterday OH helped me make a pie from 'Treasured Amish & Mennonite Recipes'. (This is a great book!) I'd made it before but at the moment I need a little help!
Lemon Sponge Pie2 egg yolks
grated rind and juice of 1 lemon
1 cup sugar
3 tbsp flour
3 tbsp butter
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup milk
2 beaten egg whites
1 unbaked pie case (6oz p flour, 3 oz butter, 1 tbsp sugar, I'm sure you know how to make pastry!)
Beat all the ingredients, except the egg whites, together in order given. Then add the egg whites. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Preheat oven to 210 degrees(425) Put pie in and cook for 10 mins then reduce heat to 120 degrees (I have to put my oven to minimum!) and bake for 40 mins. Cool and enjoy lemony goodness!!
It's a bit of a dark picture...taken just before scoffing!!! And then there are the hats!!!.....
Blues and greys....and then....
Seriously bright! I actually think this one is cool...it would go with everything because it goes with nothing!
DS's girlfriends family liked her hat so much that her mum and granny want one! I have re-homed 3 mad bag lady hats!YAY, bring on the wool:D
And there's homemade celery soup...
head of celery, couple of leeks, a potato, sauteed in butter for 10 mins, 1/4 tsp celery seed, 2 tsp bouillon (and I'm loving the flavour of marigold swiss vegetable)just cover with milk and simmer for 25 mins. Add water to desired consistency and blend:D Zoop:D
Be good now...I can definitely hear jingling...

Take the wool away from the fairy

Ok..as its nearly that time we start with festive tealights in jars...the only ones that DON'T have any food in them! (The quarts won't fit in my saucepan!)
Then we go onto all things woolly!! Oh dear....
Pretty purples and greens...mad bag lady hat-tastic!!
Pinks and lilacs, thought it would be a bit girly for me but I like it..and the ickle flowers....
Aren't they cool???
And this is the little device OH bought me last xmas!!

Gave DS's girlfriend a hat:) Yay, one has a home!!
And I found some red wool today..so i thought...stocking for DS?????
HaHaHahahahahaaahhhaa!! Look I turned the heel and the toe...I won't say properly as it was my first attempt! But its fine to put pressies from santa in..and it gave DS a laugh!! AND>>>>
YES! It actually fits on a foot! I wouldn't imagine it would be the most comfy of socks..but it is the most amusing! And I still haven't used all the wool! And I'm still resting, and dreaming of homemade pies...I wanna lemon pie!!!

More hats than wheelbarrow fairies

RED DRESS!!!!!!!!!  It looks better on curves than it does on the hanger!!
It would seem santa has bought an early delivery....more pretty wool...oh dear..I may be addicted to making hats (mainly because they are simple!) And the winner of the favourite ball of wool in the bag is....drum roll please....
Ooooh purple and green!! How pretty is that!!
This morning, yes, it just took a morning (good job there's more wool now) I made this little beauty....
I'm liking the little flowers as you can see! So I thought I'd try strips of fabric to make a flower...fiddly but it works...maybe on a hair slide? we shall see!
Tatty old bit of floral blouse!! I still don't think I'll ever get used to this here resting malarky though. i think its harder work than being a fairy!
Now there are alot of hats...everyone is getting a special mad bag lady hat for christmas..I may even have to start giving them to strangers...they're taking over the bedroom! DD suggested giving any extra's to charity, which is a jolly good idea:D She is a clever girl my DD:) Another hat nearly done, and yes, it was with the stormy purple and green wool!! So pretty!

Wheelbarrow fairy goes....ARGH

Yes...starting with a picture of my big green bowl filled with green lametta, or is that a moped..oh well..shiny tinsel anyway...and the christmas candle..that way you'll be prepared for what comes next....
Right...this is for chicken...:) what with the 22 staples I thought you might be interested in how the fairy is healing..no? yes? Look away now if you dont like middle aged womens tummies!! Especially ones with interestin designs on them! And why is my belly button smiling? Probably as it hasn't been stolen as I previously thought!!

Argh!! I hadn't realised it looked like that, from above it looks less, well I suppose I can only see the top...my 'curves' hide the rest...and I'm not one for lookin at myself in the mirror too often, well, not without clothes on anyway...and I'm workin on the understandin that most of you are ladies and can cope with what is possibly a pantie shot (honestly, if you are male and you like pastel nanny panties I would have so been your woman right now!!
Ok...so I'll tell you what else happened today because of what happened yesterday..you know when everything is getting back to normal something breaks? That'll be the microwave in my case!
Now, I know I can live without one...but making porridge in a saucepan causes me untold stress (the stress of trying to remove the welded on porridge I managed to burn onto the bottom)
So...nice mr yodel delivered a shiny new microwave today:D and thanks to the people on the moneysavingexpert forums, I had enough actual money to pay for it and not panic:D so..in the dim evening light..this is it...

Woohoo!! and it has the 'blatter button' as we like to call it that gives you 30 seconds at the blatter of a button! And it has a sleep mode to save power:)
Maybe tomorrow I'll show you the dress I bought for christmas with the money my mommy gave me...its RED!!!!

Bag lady hats for a wheelbarrow fairy

Ok it happened... I went insane and DS had to wrap me in wooly products..and yes...I made a snood in sparkly pink and no, it isn't finished there..its still on the knitting loom! Looking very attractive eh?
Ah joys of bag lady hats! I'm not exactly sure if they're keeping me sane or insane!....
Last Christmas OH bought me a tiny flower loom and I hadn't used it, I was waiting till I had the time :) I have time now:) And look, it makes teeny wooly flowers!! Excellent:) And what do we do with teeny wooly flowers??
We stick them on bag lady hats!! For the fancy bag lady around bins:)
Gosh I love that wool!! Its so lovely to watch the colours change! So we have big flowers..then we have little flowers!....

Two hats...one ball of wool..thats £2.00 a hat after clever discounts:)
And yes, everyone is getting a hat...cos they make me smile:D
I have actually made food this week...hummus..yum..three days worth from one tin o chickpeas:) in its little box for the fridge...and some homemade coleslaw..chop and slice and in the fridge..
And finally just thought I'd share this view from the kitchen window from last week......
Now isn't that a view to see whilst you're not washing up:) Life is good innit!!

Wheelbarrow fairies OH and the trains

Now, my OH is dependable..sensible, lovely..and a bit of a train geek. What, you hadn't noticed?
Just before I went into hospital, we went to a train exhibition. Yes, alot of old gents in brown shoes!! Who really, really like trains...especially teeny tiny ones!!
So..me and DS went along too...we do like a giggle!! And as everyone else was doing it..I look some pictures...wanna see??

Ah would you look at the teeny houses that someone had the patience to make! And the landsacpes...I talked to some of the men..and yes, mainly men who made them, and some of the took years to make!

Ok, I loved the farming scenes..and the WW2 ones..and look a little land rover!! So cute!
But this one was my favourite...
Now look at that building...tea stirrers!! Now thats inventive:) The nice man said he used to fill his pockets with them everywhere he went until he discovered just how cheap they were wholesale!!
Ok, so maybe I'm a convert!! Though me and DS did wander off to the outlet centre close by! And came back with a candle and some chocolate:D
Wonderful!

The wheelbarror fairy wants her wings back

I want my wings back!!
This here resting is soooo dull! Yesterday I slept..in the day..for hours..yes, i know I need to heal..but I can see all the things that need doing..and why can't men see them..do they wear blinkers?? Do they have some strange washing pile aversion?
Well anyway, little walk today, not too far. And I got my zip up boots on so I went and looked at my sprouting brocoli and lo and behold...it has a sprout!! Or four! Ok so not exactly enough to make a meal out of..not that i feel like cooking anyway! And there's another thing...from now on OH is learning to cook and is taking over ONE meal a week even when I'm better. I do not like potato waffles and fries (not in the same meal) but that is as far as his repetoire goes! Bless him, I have mollycoddled enough.
And I have now been asking for a week, I asked four times and then wrote on the 'to do' list,,,Christmas decorations.
I have been stuck here...I can walk a little but going out in the car is NO fun, and I get tired super quickly. So i want a bit of sparkle!! This is the only thing up so far and I had to bug to get that. Its DS's advent tree (yes, I know he's 17 so?? DD has one too, which she finally found this year under the bed!)

Ah a week of sweeties gone already! DS is still a kid at heart!!
And to stop the overwhelming dullness...I have progressed to bag lady snood with the PINK sparkly wool that was donated by OH's mum:) DS has said that if I make it he will wear it!! Bless him the boy is always good for a laugh:D
So, ladies, this here hysterectomy malarky. The scar is looking less like frankenstien has been busy. I STILL haven't braved the bath...yeah I know..stinky!! (I do wash!!) I am completely useless compared to the fairy I used to be..I have to have a lie down after getting ready for bed!! But hey ho and I'm still here to annoy and the fairy wings will be back. Sorry if I'm a bit lax, but pictures of the bed where I spend alot of my time are NOT interesting!! I suppose I could show you pictures of todays book?? No, maybe not.
And todays happy thought?
I'm wearing a dress..and tights! I nearly look like a girl!
Basically the joggers are in the wash!!
:-D
