Nice pear!

Yes I know, its an old joke...but so appropriate! The trees dad bought me for my birthdays over the last few years are really starting to produce now, last year I ended up with a half a box of pears. This year it looks even better.

Another cake tried...I bought a bag of 23p toffees...

So I thought they could be useful in caramel brownies.

I didn't have any choccy chips left so I hacked 2 cheap bars up instead!

Toffees and condensed milk!!

There should have ben twice as many toffees but it'll do...topped with the rest of the batter..

Dude this is naughty cakey! Sticky, chocolatey, toffee-ey!
I shall have to go look at vegetables to get over the calorie intake!

Ah courgette flower, splendid! Soon time for homegrown veggy curry ingredients:) Far more healthy than brownies!

And yes, I ate the 2 cherries that were ready :)

And as I put pennies I'd earnt in my jar (which was labelled 'food')  DS piped up..."Yay, we can eat". So I renamed the jar!! Gotta smile at the world! And lastly...I treated myself to something other than food.

Freesias :) I love the way they smell and as DS had to buy roses for his G/F (yes, he had done wrong!) I decided o buy me something lovely too. Add some long stemmed daisies from the garden and i have a happy thought in the kitchen!

Jolly Good Friday

Bank holidays. Personally I love them. Even though I know theres work to do, I just don't do it! I made chocolate fudge brownies though...

And yes, I had the first piece!! Yum yum yum :D Well, I didn't get an easter egg! Easter brownie??

DS asked last night 'Is the canned apple ok?'...Yes sweetie...

DS and the pink wafers, and a jar of applesauce...

Hmmmmm. He ated all the jar! Wow, that has to be 3 fruit portions in one go!! Theres a good lad!!

And his request for tea??? tortillas with cheese and salad...and chilli sauce of course!! This week he has been truely brilliant :) It must be because he's 18!!
So, earnt - zero, spent - zero! Mainly because I've not been anywhere!! In fact gotta work tomorrow, may get to aldi at some point..we are nearly out of bread! But I could always made some rolls:)
I'm actually in a bad mood. Yes, this is me angry. I make cake! And watch zombie movies...and then go have a rant somewhere online!! And yes, its men. And yes, its money. And no, I still am incapable of bringing up the subject of money with OH without (a) breaking into tears or (b) wanting to hit him with the nearest sharp object!! So..cake and zombies!
Potato planting tomorrow now. It was supposed to be today but hey ho men.

Weekend!! I must be good fairy

As hard as I try the weekends are always spendy if we go anywhere! And normally we have to go get top ups of milk and bread. Today was no different.
I neede 2 milk @£1 each, 3 rolls @ 52p eack. bread @ 55p. £4.01 :) Which actually cost me...£1 as OH wanted something too! So he paid for most of it! Then DS bought everyone chips for tea! To say thankyou for running him about!
Out of my pennies I still had to buy DS a birthday card :) And I bought the dog a frisbee for £1! Not as bad as it could have been if my favourite charity shop had been open!
So today..

cheap dark choccy, cheap milk choccy, condensed milk....must be..

Chocolate fudge brownies!!!! MMM sticky! No wonder I have indigestion!!

Checked the seals on the blackberry cordial, all had sealed well. Took off the screwbands and they are now on the shelves!
Took up the last of the parsnips before they get chopped up and ploughed in.

And remember the paper and shaving logs? Well they have started to dry out well..

Still not dry enough to light one yet and see if they would work as firelighters! But todays experiment was the addition of coal dust!

Another 12 little briquettes that have a definite blackness to them! Waste not want not!!
Well zero earnt and £1 spent :) still not had to go into emergency money :)
If i'm MIA tomorrow its cos I'm lazy!! And its sunday!

The fairies had the oven on

I found an interesting recipe in my interesting WW2 recipe book.
Raspberry buns...except i only had strawberry jam, so these are strawberry buns!
1/2 lb sr flour
pinch salt
3oz margarine
2oz sugar
tsp vanilla essence
1 tbsp jam
Milk
Mix everything apart from a tbsp of the sugar and the jam to make a dough. use enough milk to make a stiff dough.
Break into 12 equal pieces, form into buns and make a hole in the middle. In goes a little jam, then pull over the dough to cover it. Place on a greased baking sheet (I used parchment so no greasing) I brushed them with milk then sprinkled on the remaining ugar. Bake in a hot oven (about 210 degrees) for about 10 mins

Strawberry buns...OI!! Who ate the rest of them???

Jammy!!! DS loved them!! And my best friend said could they have currants in instead...oh yes...the recipe can be varied to make Rock buns!! I think the last time I made those I was at school:)

Rocking!! And while I was at it I made MORE strawberry buns!

And...Chocolate fudge brownies!!!

I don't think I've ever made anything quite so chocolatey! And thick..and sticky and YUM!
These have gotta be seriously bad for you, I can only manage 1 piece a day!!
